Signed books with monoprints

Books are available that trace the history of Alan Sonfist’s ecological art from its earliest stages to his most recent sustainable art, which was recently published on the cover of Public Art Review (Summer 2009 edition). A selection of the books, written by leading art historians including Robert Rosenblum, Wolfgang Becker and Lawrence Alloway, provide an overview of his long career, including his experiences, images of his art, and scientific research relevant to his work.  Each of the books addresses specific concerns in art, nature, and sustainable urban development.  These readings have  raised awareness about the environmental conservation movement as well as man’s impact on our planet.

Signed editions of Sonfist’s books are available with mono prints.  The monoprints serve as a reflection of Alan’s life, from childhood to present.  Sonfist considers them personal Rorschach tests, chronicling his lifelong relationship with nature.

Seed projects

Sonfist has personally collected seeds in major cities all across the globe in the cracks of sidewalks.  These are limited edition collections that strive to raise awareness of ancient and contemporary seeds that still exist in urban centers.  The seeds stand as a testimony to nature’s eternal presence – even while man is not watching.  With help, these trees will return as major player’s on the world’s stage as their numbers begin to grow once again.
